A new an exciting bug-bitten oolong from the same farm as Smiling Lu.
What is Gui Fei?
Gui Fei (imperial concubine) oolong stands out as a unique Taiwanese tea, renowned for its distinct flavor profile. One of the defining characteristics of this oolong is its pronounced honey flavor, reminiscent of wild honey with nuances of minerals, wild flowers and roasted nuts. This honeyed essence permeates the tea's color, texture, and taste, delivering a comforting sweetness.
Why we call this "Bug-bitten oolong" and not "Gui Fei"?
This is a bug-bitten, properly dried, ball-rolled oolong, but it hasn’t gone through the final refining stages which involves mellowing and baking that define Gui Fei. Because of that, this high mountain tea exhibits a refreshing fruitiness and bright flavor profile of a classic low-oxidation high mountain tea with additional cane sugar and grape sweetness from the bug bites.
This tea is perfect for everyone: it's tasty, extremely easy to brew and tastes good as cold brew as well.
Compared to Shanlinxi Bug-Bitten Oolong, Yushan displays a clearer body and a more floral sweetness.
